Design conceptPlane & Plumb Woodworks is a small Austin, Texas shop run by John Freeling. Every sign is designed, carved and finished by the same pair of hands, start to finish.
Where the name comes from
The name comes from two old tools: the plane that makes a surface true, and the plumb bob that makes it straight. That's the standard for every piece that leaves the shop.
The maker's mark
The Plane & Plumb mark and its own job number are carved into each piece. That number ties it to its order, so a matching piece can be made years later.
How we work
- A free proof before you pay a deposit
- Hand finishing matched to the material and where it will hang
- Logos and artwork carved only with the owner's permission
- Pickup by appointment; delivery and installation available
